A White Dress

According to Wikipedia the tradition of a white wedding dress is commonly credited to Queen Victoria’s choice to wear a white court dress at her wedding to Prince Albert in 1840.  Royal brides before Victoria did not typically wear white, instead choosing "heavy brocaded gowns embroidered with white and silver thread," with red being a particularly favorite color in Western Europe more generally. European and American brides had been wearing a plethora of colors, including blue, yellow, and standard colors like black, brown, or gray. As accounts of Victoria's wedding spread across the Atlantic and throughout Europe, elites followed her lead.

My name is Kristen White and I am the owner of White Weddings in downtown Farmington. I opened the boutique in 2016 with the goal of offering unique wedding dresses and giving brides a great dress shopping experience.

One of my favorite things about owning a bridal store is being there when a bride chooses her dress. It’s interesting how she often surprises herself by falling in love with a style she didn’t expect to choose. I hear a lot of brides say that they didn’t think they would look good in a certain style or fit until they actually try it on. There are so many brides that come in with a negative view of themselves, so if I can help someone have that moment where they truly feel beautiful then my day is made.

One of the things I’m most excited about is our growing selection. Since moving into our larger building we’ve been able to expand our selection. We’re now able to carry even more plus size wedding dresses, a new designer that we love, and a really fun and affordable new bridesmaids line. It’s definitely been an adventure to see our product offering grow and change over the last few years.

I’m so thankful to live and work in an area where the community is really supportive of small businesses.

My name is Danielle Schremp (above). I just got engaged in January. We are planning our wedding for June 20th of 2020! I live in Jackson, Missouri, with my fiancé and our two children, Ava (four) and Cullen (eighteen months). I am an early childhood special education teacher for the Jackson R-2 school district. I have been a special education teacher for eleven years, and I absolutely love it. Besides being a mom, it’s the most rewarding thing I have ever done!

Modeling is not something I’ve ever done, but here I go.

My name is Hevan Leon. I am a 22 year old actress, singer, dancer, director/choreographer originally from Los Angelos, California, now working in the Cape Girardeau/ St. Louis area. My time is usually spent at Between the Scenes Studios in Jackson directing/teaching choreography to children, playing a face character (princess) with Storybook Entertainment, or acting in shows and films in the area. I really love what I do.
