Now, I am not a professional renovation specialist, but I am a DIY-spirited person, and with the right help, we decided to DIY the floors at our WorkSPACE Co-Working offices. The first thing we did was visit the design team at the Farmington Hoods Home Center to find out what the best flooring solution was and whether I could really pull it off. They showed us all the high-quality, waterproof flooring products they provide—products at lower costs in simpler, no-frills showroom settings—that's how they pass savings on to you.  We needed 100% waterproof, with a grip texture and the ability to withstand heavy traffic—we went with their Elite product and never looked back.  All we needed was a tape measure, a box cutter, a small square, a rubber mallet, and time. Â
The way this stuff is designed, it just snaps together, and you run. Interlocking planks make installation a breeze, and the DIY-friendly built-in underlayment saves time on installation. It is hard work and not for the faint of heart, but a regular person with ambition can pull it off. Â We laid about 2000 square feet of floor throughout the WorkSPACE in less than a week, working off and on at our own pace. Â

Our guy on the inside—Eric Velasco at Hoods.
My name is Eric Velasco. I’m 20 years old, originally from St. Louis, and eventually made my way down to Farmington as I got older. I graduated from North County High School. Family is a big part of my life — whether it’s spending time with my parents or any of my six siblings. Outside of that, I enjoy collecting car and sports memorabilia, following basketball, and spending time with my girlfriend. I also really enjoy carpentry‑style work and appreciate the process of building or creating something with your own hands. My biggest motivations are my family, my girlfriend, and the future I’m working toward.

Hoods has an amazing selection of colors and types.
I started working at Hoods on the last day of my junior year of high school. It was my second job, but the one I planned to build a career with. I began as a floor representative, and over time I’ve grown my passion, knowledge, and work ethic within the company. I’m currently the flooring associate, responsible for all of our flooring products — vinyl, hardwood, tile, and more. I help customers choose the right flooring and make sure they understand everything they need to know for their project. I’m also a cabinet designer, helping customers bring their measurements and ideas to life, and guiding them through options like countertops, hardware, and other details. I take a lot of pride in what I do and really enjoy the retail side of helping people have a smooth, stress‑free experience with their home renovations.
Eric shows us how to lay the Elite Flooring panels.

Just a few simple tools needed.

With a razor score and a snap, you're on to the next panel.
Whether it’s a simple DIY job or a large contractor project, flooring can seem intimidating, but we make it simple at Hoods. It starts with finding the color or finish you love. From there, we help you figure out the tools and accessories you’ll need. With the right information and guidance, we take a lot of the stress out of the process. Our goal is not only to help you find a great deal, but also to point you in the right direction for installing your floor confidently.

The panels snap water tight—easy peasy as 1,2,3zy.
The flooring we put down at WorkSPACE is an amazing, high-quality brand to work with. The product has a lifetime guarantee.  It’s super easy to install.  Still, it is always best to have a professional do the installation unless you have the skills and physical strength needed to install a floor. However, this material is excellent to work with.  It is easy to cut, and your floor needs little to no prep—you just lay right on the subfloor or on top of existing flooring. Â

Our project at WorkSPACE turned out marvey, darling.

The perfect non-slip texture.

The panel design is just perfect.

At Hood's, not only do they offer discounted prices on all their quality-stocked materials, but they also have highly knowledgeable staff always willing to help you figure out your DIY project—the best way to save and build equity in your home. The money you save and the quality you get make a drive to Hoods worth it, even coming from Perryville, Cape Girardeau, or Potosi—I guess you can tell 573 loves Hoods. Â
