The Unstoppable Beverly Brown

About a year ago, I was introduced to someone who instantly jumped to the top of my “Most Fascinating Humans” list, and she, in fact, has her own list. You remember that old beer commercial—“The Most Interesting Man in the World”? The guy who says, “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.” Well, hold my beer (or in this case, my sparkling water), because I’m convinced one of the Most Interesting Women in the World lives right here in the 573.

Meet Beverly Brown, creator of Becoming Bev YouTube (24.9K subscribers). She’s just out there living life at full throttle, with zero apologies and maximum joy. She keeps a home near Fredericktown, another in Houston, but honestly, she’s rarely in either. Most of the time, she’s either jetting around the globe or cruising the U.S. in a fully tricked-out van that makes most RVs look like a cardboard box. Like the Energizer Bunny on a triple espresso, she just keeps going and going—always upbeat, always curious, and completely unstoppable.

She’s so interesting, in fact, that we’ve spent the last year chasing her around with cameras trying to capture even a fraction of her adventures for a pilot TV show named UNSTOPPABLE. (Spoiler: we’re still running to keep up.) Again, meet Beverly Brown. She doesn't need awards, she doesn't need invitations to all the cool parties and events, she’s just doing her own thing with a passion—our kind of people.

In this year alone, she’s traveled to: New York, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Scotland, Budapest, Croatia, Lake Powell, Arizona, Bermuda, Albert Lea, Minnesota - the Van Nationals, Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, London, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Redding, California, Houston, Texas skydiving, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, India, Florida a few times and she’s gearing up for a long drive through Mexico with her friend Bill aka Wild Bill.

Beverly and her daughter, Misty, are currently building a brand-new geodesic dome stay at Fredrock Glampground (the unique glamping spot they own together). They stayed in one in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, loved it so much they came home and decided, “Let’s build our own.” So they are building it with their own hands—that's passion for life.

The Unstoppable Beverly Brown:

My name is Beverly Brown. When I have downtime while traveling, I love to do a bit of research about the things I’ve seen that day or the previous days. It’s cool to get the history and to know more about the people and places. I enjoy sharing photos and the things that I’ve learned on social media. I’ll typically post on Instagram and Facebook. I typically go through all of my photos, choose favorites, and do a minimal amount of editing before I post them. Downtime is also important for getting caught up on things like laundry. I try to travel with just a carry-on, so often times I am washing clothes in the sink and hanging them up to dry in the room. I also used downtime to catch up with my daughters,  my mom, and friends.

There’s nothing more exciting in my life right now than traveling...

Typically, when I return to the States, I’m returning to help out with a project. There’s nothing more exciting in my life right now than traveling, and I almost never want to come home. I still have responsibilities that have to be attended to at home, though.

I began traveling in 2017, just after my divorce. I had created a bucket list with 100 things on it and began traveling the world, checking things off my bucket list. I did that passionately for 4 1/2 years until Covid hit. So since 2020, I’ve kind of taken a break from heavy travel, until this year. This year was the perfect setup for me to return to traveling because now Brock lives with Misty and he helps her out. We have camp host at Fredrock now who take care of a lot of the responsibilities at the campground that I used to do, so this year I felt like I had freedom from my work responsibilities and I could travel like this again

I’ve met some of my now closest friends while traveling. Sometimes connections are made, and you exchange information with your Instagram or Facebook, and keep up with people like that, and then sometimes you make a lifelong friend. I met my friend Diane when we were both walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. We were both at a coffee shop and began chatting, and I just looked at her and said You’re my people! Since 2017, we have done a half dozen amazing trips together.

I think the UNSTOPPABLE SHOW may inspire others to think maybe things are possible for them as well. I feel like I’m living the life that I was always meant to live. I love the idea that others see me do it and see that it’s possible for them too. (Whatever one person can do, another can do!) I’ve learned so many things about life and about travel along the way. I love sharing information with others. Travel doesn’t have to cost thousands and thousands of dollars once you learn a few tips and tricks.

GET OUT THERE and stay thirsty for adventure, my friends. And keep an eye out for the new TV show, The Unstoppable Beverly Brown—she’s proof that the most interesting people aren’t on billboards or beer ads. Sometimes they’re right here, hidden in the hills of Missouri, building domes, jumping out of planes, living a Van-Life, and reminding the rest of us how fun life can be when you refuse to sit still.
