Fall hits hard like a Wham-O! One day it's hot; the next, crisp blue skies. 'The wind' adds excitement. It whispers hidden invitations to live wild. Gusts push you, trees bow, hair dances in the breeze. The 573's foliage is bursting with purples, reds, oranges, and yellows in full splendor. The Missouri Department of Conservation's latest report says recent rain in Southeast Missouri—Cape Girardeau, Farmington, and all the areas in between—has made the colors even more vibrant; sumac, hickories, sweet gum, and maples are stealing the show.
