United We Stand, Divided We Fall

As the political season heats up, we are bombarded by negative. Negative thoughts. Negative speeches. Negative deeds. It’s hard not to get caught up in the non-sense and pettiness of it all. Democrats are "elitist socialists willing to sell our country off to foreign interests" and Republicans are "redneck racists wanting to destroy the environment and start WWlll."

Bla. Bla. Bla.............

With the onslaught of social media and the old school media pressing their agendas like fat Italian ladies stomping grapes, sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of the magnificent gifts this beautiful and diverse country affords its citizens. Luckily our forefathers had the insight to know that we need to take time to remind ourselves how lucky we are to be Americans — enter the 4th of July.

It’s true that we’re not a perfect nation. But we are a country that is always willing to grow and evolve. We are a country made up of different people with differences so great we have a hard time not killing each other. It is these differences that make the U.S.A. the greatest country in the world and the place that people are willing to do whatever is needed to become an American citizen. So this 4th of July let’s celebrate and appreciate our differences and this spectacular country we call home.

I leave you with these simple truths about the United States that most countries do not offer their citizens. 1. We are free to express ourselves. 2. We are free to celebrate our freedoms. 3. We are free to say whatever we want. 4. We are free to travel as we see fit. 5. We are free to believe. 6. We are free to be rich. 7. We are free to learn and teach. 8. We are free to overthrow our government every four years.
